About Me:

Tara is a functional nutritionist, counseling clients in the areas of weight loss, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, and other obesity-related conditions since 2013. Tara is a researcher, educator, veteran, mom, and consultant. Her interest in nutrition began after dealing with her health issues including celiac disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and lupus. After struggling to find adequate nutrition help for herself, she decided to take her health into her own hands, changed her major to Nutrition Science, and wrote her thesis on celiac disease.

Tara is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition program at the University of Western States (UWS). She completed her M.S. in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine from UWS as well. Her capstone focus was on nutrition and nutraceutical approaches to reduce symptoms associated with small intestine bacteria overgrowth (SIBO). Tara is also helping to publish a research paper regarding the assessment and testing for heavy metal toxicity.

With many years of experience, Tara has successfully been helping clients improve their health through proper functional nutrition, professional-grade supplement protocols, exercise recommendations, education, and support, using a personalized evidence-based approach. Tara Torres Nutrition offers functional nutrition solutions for chronic disease and helps clients develop sustainable lifestyle habits that will last a lifetime!

Why functional medicine? What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is an individualized, patient-centered approach to medicine. Functional medicine addresses the root cause of someone’s disease and treats from a holistic point of view. This includes using lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and supplements as needed, as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Functional medicine and nutrition work great alongside traditional medicine. So whether you’re trying lose weight or struggling with some other condition such as diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, diverticulosis, reflux, etc. I want you to ask yourself what is the missing link in your current treatment plan? Why are you still struggling or why is your condition not resolved or under control? More often than not, it’s nutrition or dietary changes or you haven’t addressed the root cause of your issues. I can help you implement the changes you need to not only be healthier, but create sustainable lifestyle changes that will last a lifetime!

If you have questions about my services, or questions about whether my services are right for your needs, I would highly encourage you to schedule a complimentary 20 minute discovery call.

“I started with Tara not comprehending the root and causes of why I was always fatigue, and not losing weight. For someone who is always on the go she shined a light on the specifics to create a foundation that would allow me to be successful. Her meal plans are designed specifically for your lifestyle and come with detailed information so you are never lost when it comes to ingredients or portions. I highly recommend. She is exceptional in all she does.”
